Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, skin resurfacing procedure that uses the skin’s natural healing process to reduce skin imperfections, treat sun damage, and restore a smoother, clearer complexion. Instead of removing layers of skin with heat or chemicals, microneedling creates microscopic “injuries” in the skin using an instrument containing dozens of very fine, short needles. The “injuries” are not visible to the naked eye, but they trigger the natural healing response, prompting your skin to produce new collagen and elastin and regenerate new, healthy skin cells.

At Aphrodite we use Rejuvapen NXT®, an FDA cleared microneedling device that treats facial wrinkles. Rejuvapen microneedling takes less than an hour, is painless, and requires little-to-no recovery time. With its advanced design, the Rejuvapen NXT® delivers both profitability and exceptional results.

Microneedling Treatments

Aphrodite Laser Skincare offers a range of powerful microneedling techniques designed to enhance skin vibrancy and quality. There are several types of microneedling treatments available, each of which offers unique advantages.

our practitioners can help determine the most suitable microneedling treatment for your individual needs.

microneedling + PRP

Microneedling + PRP (platelet rich plasma) is a cosmetic treatment that stimulates collagen production by rolling fine needles over the skin and applying platelets to energize cellular activity and increases cellular turnover. Platelets help blood clot, so they are vital for healing wounds and injuries. PRP is plasma in which the concentration of platelets is higher than that of other components of the blood.

Your provider will take a blood sample and then use a spinning tool called a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. PRP contains proteins, including growth factors and cytokines. These proteins help skin tissue repair itself.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) utilizes nutrients within your own blood to rejuvenate the skin and can be used to treat acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven skin tones, fine lines & wrinkles, and sun/age spots. The addition of PRP to microneedling may speed up the healing process and stimulate skin renewal, potentially producing better results than microneedling alone.

microneedling + PRFm

Microneedling + PRFM (Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix), often referred to as the “Vampire Facial”, is a new and innovative treatment, considered to be the gold standard to achieve natural skin rejuvenation. Done through collecting your blood sample, spinning and harvesting the PRF, which is then injected and or micro-needled on to the face.

PRFM is a natural approach to anti-aging and improving the condition of skin that uses your own platelets, unique tissue growth factors, and healing properties to revitalize and rejuvenate the skin. Because PRFM uses your own blood as its base, reactions are non-existent, making PRFM procedures ultimately safe and easy.

RF microneedling

Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling combines traditional microneedling with the application of radiofrequency energy. RF Microneedling utilizes ultrafine needles, along with radiofrequency waves, to produce thermal energy. The needles used deliver heat energy into the deeper layers of the skin, promoting collagen production and providing additional skin tightening benefits.

A serum with specific nutrients that help to build that new collagen and elastin more quickly can be administered immediately afterward. This results in smoother, firmer, and more even-toned, collagen-rich skin.

Pre-Treatment Consultation

During your consultation, one of our providers will evaluate your area of concern and go over your medical history. FAQs

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

The concept of microneedling is not a new science and dates back to the 1950’s. The idea is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage. In this case thousands of minute wounds are created in the skin by highly precise, sterile needles. Immediately after the injury occurs the skin disperses old damaged connective tissue and replaces it with new. RejuvapenTM micro needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin and fainter scars/stretchmarks.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

The feeling is described by most patients as comfortable with no pain, only a slight tingling sensation with light pressure. Based on the depth and area treated this feeling can vary. At Aphrodite we use a topical numbing application to ensure the highest level of comfort.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?

Research and experience have found that three to five treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart provide the optimal experience and outcome for patients. While results can be seen immediately for skin tone and texture, there is also improvement with each session and three months thereafter, with the process of collagen regeneration increasing over time. Once results are fully achieved an annual maintenance treatment is encouraged to sustain long lasting benefits.

CAN ANYONE HAVE THE TREATMENT??

Although the treatment is safe for all skin types there are certain medical conditions that exclude you from having a treatment. These include: active acne vulgaris, rosacea, active skin infections, raised keloid scars, actinic keratosis and other non-melanoma & melanoma skin cancers, eczema, psoriasis, sebaceous hyperplasia and open wounds.

If you suffer from severe cold sores you may wish to take your cold sore medication before each treatment. Your practitioner will discuss with you any health concerns you may have before you commence the treatment.
