What is PRF Skin Rejuvenation?

PRF, also known as Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix, is an injectable that utilizes the patient’s own natural growth factors acquired via a blood draw. Red blood cells are separated from the plasma during a 7-minute centrifuge spin. The plasma is then transferred into another tube containing a solution that transforms the liquid into a serum. This serum is then injected into areas of concern ranging from hair restoration to under-eye brightening. The recommended number of treatments is 3-4 rounds spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

What to Expect

Pre-Treatment Consultation

We recommend pre-treating your skin with our Vitamin C Serum or skin tone enhancement pads, retinols and sunscreen at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Three days before the treatment we recommend taking a break from retinols, topical antibiotics, exfoliating products, hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide skincare products about 72 hours prior to your treatment.

Your Appointment

During your treatment appointment you have the option to numb 30 minutes prior, so plan on being in the office for up to 1 hour. Otherwise, the day of your appointment please come with a clean and dry face. Your treatment provider will draw your blood with a small needle and spin your blood for 7 minutes in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich-fibrin (PRF). The PRF is then injected into the skin. PRF injections help to stimulate collagen and elastin, which are two key proteins that are essential for healthy, glowing and youthful-looking skin.

Aftercare

Avoid touching your face for at least 6 hours and don’t wash your face for that time frame.
Avoid applying makeup on your face until the next day.
Don’t rub the skin, especially when washing and drying your face.
Use pain relievers like acetaminophen to reduce any discomfort after the treatment. Especially if you notice pain or swelling lasting longer than 24 hours.
You can apply cold compresses wrapped in a clean, dry towel to help reduce swelling and discomfort as well.
Plan to sleep on your back with your face slightly elevated for at least two days after your treatment.
You should also avoid using exfoliating facial cleansers, retinols or topical antibiotics for about three days or 72 hours post treatment.

HOW DOES PRF DIFFER FROM PRP?

PRF differs from PRP in that the PRF solution injected is absorbed over the course of 7-10 days, rather than 7 hours with PRP. This is a superior service because it allows for new collagen to grow scaffolding over a longer period of time providing better results faster.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET PRF TREATMENTS?

We recommend getting PRF injections for at least three months for the best treatment results.
